Bobcats News · Perkins Signs to Play Baseball at Akron

As he prepares for his final spring as a member of the Bobcat Baseball Team, Senior Sean Perkins made it official today that he will be continuing his academic and athletic career at the University of Akron.  A multi-sport athlete, Sean had opportunities to play a sport other than baseball at the next level but it was the coaching staff and atmosphere of the campus and baseball team that confirmed Akron was where he wanted to be.  “I really enjoyed the campus and how friendly everyone was”, said Perkins.  “I was also very impressed and fond of how outgoing the whole coaching staff was”.

Coach Jamaal Lowery had high praises for his senior pitcher, “I am proud of Sean and how he handled the whole recruiting process.”  As a sophomore,  Perkins posted a 7-1 record with 51 innings pitched, 30 strikeouts and a 2.5 earned run average (ERA).  With the cancellation of sports last year, Lowery is excited to get his entire club back on the diamond this spring.

Along with his many accolades in athletics, Sean has been as impressive in the classroom with a 3.8 G.P.A.  At Akron, he plans to major in Exercise Science.
