An early lead helped Cambridge Bobcats Varsity defeat Steubenville 7-1 on Saturday. Cambridge Bobcats Varsity scored on a single by Cody Moore in the first inning and a double by Logan Tuttle in the second inning.
Steubenville evened things up at one in the bottom of the first inning. Niko Kausky grounded out, scoring one run.
Cambridge Bobcats Varsity pulled away for good with one run in the second inning. In the second Tuttle doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.
Cambridge Bobcats Varsity scored three runs in the sixth inning. Van Hollins, Trent Valentine, and Moore all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Valentine earned the win for Cambridge Bobcats Varsity. He lasted six innings, allowing six hits and one run while striking out five. Tuttle threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Chesen Sutton took the loss for Steubenville. He went seven innings, allowing seven runs on 14 hits, striking out two and walking one.
Cambridge Bobcats Varsity racked up 14 hits. Tuttle, Jacob Nunamaker, Moore, Kaden Whaley, and Hollins all collected multiple hits for Cambridge Bobcats Varsity. Nunamaker and Tuttle each managed three hits to lead Cambridge Bobcats Varsity. Cambridge Bobcats Varsity didn’t commit a single error in the field. Brock Valentine had 12 chances in the field, the most on the team.
